How to play footcaster
footcaster is a skill-based football prediction game. Predict the outcomes of football matches across global competitions, earn a Match Board Rating (MBR), and compete on leaderboards. Here is how to go from registration to competing.
Step 1 — Create your free account
Register with an email address. During onboarding you choose a profile name, an avatar, and your football nationality. No payment is required — footcaster is completely free.
Step 2 — Find your Match Board
Match Boards are organised by competition type: League, World Cup, Continental, and Custom. Standard boards (League, World Cup, Continental) appear automatically — as soon as your first prediction for that competition is scored, you appear on the board. No manual join step is required.
Custom boards are created by players or communities. Join them with a 6-character code or via an invitation link.
Step 3 — Make your predictions
Browse upcoming matches and predict outcomes. Predictions lock 7 days before kick-off — the earlier you submit, the more time you have to reconsider before the lock. Once locked, predictions cannot be changed.
Step 4 — Wait for results
Predictions are scored automatically once official match results are confirmed. No manual action is required on your part.
Step 5 — Earn MBR points
Each scored prediction contributes to your Match Board Rating (MBR). Your MBR accumulates over time and never resets between seasons — your entire prediction history is permanent. MBR is a pure skill score: the more accurate your predictions, the higher it climbs.
Step 6 — Compete on leaderboards
The global leaderboard ranks all players across standard boards by their MBR. Custom boards create private competitions: compete with friends, colleagues, or communities you create yourself. Ties are broken by the earliest prediction time, rewarding players who predict earlier.
